Car and Van Hire in Rabley Heath

Rabley Heath, in the Hertfordshire Hills, is in the district of Welwyn Hatfield, not far from the town of Knebworth. It is a small village, but with a number of pubs and available accommodation.

One much talked about traditional English pub and restaurant in Rabley Heath, is the Robin Hood and Little John – famous for its excellent food and service. A timber-framed 17th century, grade II listed building, the Robin Hood and Little John is a traditional old country inn, with its original wood beams and old open log fires, with beautiful gardens and patio areas. However, the pub is very family friendly, and even provides a free bouncy castle to keep the little ones entertained during the spring and summer seasons!

Rabley Heath’s close proximity to the picturesque countryside, means it’s a paradise for the avid walker, cyclist, or even those who just enjoy a day out in the peace and quiet and fresh air. There is plenty of woodland and even a nature reserve – perfect for a bit of bird spotting or bug hunting.

There are a number of walking routes around the area, which prove extremely popular. An interesting account during one of the walks, was the apparent sighting of a ghostly Second World War tank, seen driving from Knebworth Lodge along the road to Old Knebworth and Codicote. A soldier wearing a steel helmet was stood in the turret, frantically gesturing everyone to clear the road and take cover as if an air raid was in progress. It’s not known whose account this was, but might make an interesting encounter if you were to brave the route!

If you’re a fan of walking, rambling or cycling, and fancy trying some of the routes around Rabley Heath, why not organise a group get-together and spend a day discovering more about the area. You could hire a van or minibus from St. Alban’s Car and Van Hire, and make a day of it in the Hertfordshire Hills!
