Harry Potter in Leavesden

About seven miles from St. Albans, in the northern suburbs of Watford, lies the commercial area of Leavesden, within easy reach of both the M25 and M1 motorways. The area is part of the Abbots Langley civil parish, and has a residential community in Leavesden Green.

The home ground of Watford Town Cricket Club is also in Leavesden Green, and there is a 110 acre country park to its north, with mature woods and parkland, and an abundance of things to do, as there are football pitches, an outdoor gym, BMX track, walks and playgrounds, so plenty to keep everyone entertained! Another fact (although not necessarily interesting), is that the English entertainer Bradley Walsh was born and grew up in Leavesden.

However, Leavesden is probably much more renowned for Leavesden Studios, built on the site of RAF Leavesden - a former World War II airfield and wartime aircraft factory, and where the James Bond and Harry Potter film franchises were produced. This is also where Warner Bros. Studio Tour London (more popularly known as Harry Potter World) has been opened to the public.

People from all over the world are attracted to Harry Potter World, and even if you’re from the UK and just visiting the area, hiring a car from St. Albans Car and Van Hire is just the job to get you there and back – as it’s not a long drive - for an unforgettable visit to the studios.

Visitors get the chance to go behind the scenes of the films, to take in the exquisitely detailed sets and costumes, the stunning props, animatronics and special effects, which made Harry Potter the most successful film series of all time.

The Studio Tour is open daily, all year round (except Christmas Day and Boxing Day), although all visits must be pre-booked.
