Fireworks and Festivities

As we head into November and the dark evenings, it’s the time of the year when the skies are lit up with the sparkle of fireworks, and there’s the smell of bonfires in the air. November the fifth marks Guy Fawkes Night, or as it’s also known, Bonfire Night or Firework Night.

We've got over 40 vans going out for firework related events this year, with some going as far as Leeds Castle.

The night is an annual occasion, remembering when Guy Fawkes was caught more than 400 years ago, following the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, when 13 conspirators planned to blow up Parliament and kill King James I. Fawkes was arrested while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords.

On and around this date, fireworks can be seen and heard up and down the country, as people let off their own shop-bought fireworks, and organised events take place, drawing huge crowds. One of the most spectacular events takes place in Verulamium Park, St. Albans - the largest public fireworks display in the south of England!

A great family event which raises money for local charities, it’s perfect for a group night out. Why not avoid lots of car park charges by taking just one vehicle. St. Albans Car and Van Hire has a number of vehicles perfect for this type of outing, where you can fit up to 17 people in our range of Ford Transit minibuses. Our minibus hire fleet is one of the most comprehensive in the outer London area, offering competitive hire prices.

Other firework events taking place in Hertfordshire – well worth a drive for a great family evening out – include: Hatfield House; Butterfly World, Chiswell Green; Aldenham Social Club; Rudolph Steiner School, Kings Langley; The Russell School, Chorley Wood; Manor House Playing Fields, Abbots Langley; Rickmansworth Sea Scout Group, plus many more. Have fun; stay safe!
