As we head into the Christmas month, many people will be thinking about taking some time off work and enjoying the festivities which will soon be upon us. After the chaos that is Christmas shopping, food preparation and tree decorating, people will be hoping to spend some enjoyable and relaxing time with friends and family. However, for many businesses, now is not the time to be slowing down and taking it easy. Now is the time to be selling to customers old and new, and ensuring that stock is plentiful and delivered on time. If the service your business can provide is good, then those new customers may become repeat customers – so now is the time to be making that all-important first impression!

Have you ever considered taking a driving holiday in the UK? Here at St. Albans Car and Van Hire – and yes we might be slightly biased, as it’s our home county – but we believe taking a driving trip around Hertfordshire would be lovely!

Rabley Heath, in the Hertfordshire Hills, is in the district of Welwyn Hatfield, not far from the town of Knebworth. It is a small village, but with a number of pubs and available accommodation.

Firework season is always an incredibly busy time for St Albans Car and Van Hire. Between 27th Oct and 11th Nov we had 40 of our vans and lorries out and about at different firework displays all over the country.

Oaklands is a hamlet in the county of Hertfordshire. The Oaklands area is home to Oaklands College – a large general further education college which has campuses and training facilities in St. Albans, Borehamwood, and Welwyn Garden City. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, the college provides a wide variety of courses, ranging from Functional Skills to Apprenticeships and Foundation Degrees, on a full- and part-time basis, to 10,000 students.
Found off junction 22 of the M25, many people are visitors to the Tyttenhanger area as guests to the magnificent Tyttenhanger Park. Set in a natural woodland landscape, this venue caters for weddings, conferences and events, and is steeped in history.
New Greens is in the constituency of St. Albans, and only a few minutes’ drive from St. Albans Centre, with direct bus routes.
North Mymms is a civil parish in the county of Hertfordshire. Interestingly the area has been also known as North Mimms over the centuries, but in 1939, Hertfordshire County Council decreed in a council meeting that the spelling be fixed as Mymms.
The Markyate area of Hertfordshire has had its fair share of claims to fame. Childhood home of bass player and songwriter Chris White, of 60s’ rock group The Zombies, their song Beechwood Park was named after an area in the south west of the village. The British actor Martin Benson, who starred in films such as Goldfinger, Cleopatra, Ivanhoe, and Angela’s Ashes, lived and died in the village. And parts of the film The Dirty Dozen were filmed in the village and surrounding areas.
The Rodfords with Derek Keys at the Green Man charity bike ride are here aptly demonstrating how a curtain-sider lorry can be used to make a great stage for music performances!
St Albans Car and Van Hire were happy to provide a van to assist with this years Wheathampstead 10K run which took place on Sunday 18 May 2014.
Situated about two miles north-west of Welwyn Garden City, is the village of Ayot St. Peter. Famous for having four churches in the village since history records began, one of its existing complete churches is Saint Peter’s - a beautiful and important Arts and Crafts church designed by J.P. Seddon and completed in 1875.

This year St Albans saw it's 5th "M Festival", the annual festival hosted by Marlborough School Science College. Held in the school field there were over 1,500 festival goers! St Albans Car and Van Hire provided vehicles to help with the logistics.

We've got a very exciting new project, having just managed to track down one of our original transits from when we first opened in 1975. We've managed to track ours down through the DVLA... eventually locating it in Cyprus! So what did we do? We got it shipped over and have it sat in our yard now!

In just over a weeks time, on the 21st June, there will be a celebration held here in St Albans to commemorate the life of St Alban, Britain's first saint. After 1700 years the people of St Albans and the surrounding areas will reenact his life through the use of giant 12 foot tall puppets which will make their journey through the town from St Peters Church at 11am while retelling the story of Britain's first saint.
The St Albans Steam and Country Show have just celebrated the 50th Anniversary of their Society. Held at At Oaklands College (Smallford Campus) in St Albans, the show celebrates a history of Steam Engines, Vintage Vehicles, Tractors, Stationary Engines, and Classic Cars, Bikes & Lorries. Also this year, Owners of cars, commercial and motorcycles built in 1964 were also invited to attend.
We are just a 17 minute drive from the village of Flamstead which is sited near the A5 and junction 9 of the M1 Motorway.
Talented garden design student Judy Shardlow won a coveted show garden at BBC Gardeners World Live, and we're proud to be sponsoring her so she can get all her plants up to the show.
Chiswell Green is to the south of St Albans in Hertfordshire, originally a separate village it still has a fabulous community at it's heart. Conveniently positioned close to Junction 21A of the M25 many of it's 2,800 residents commute daily and as a result their daily routines revolve around having a reliable car.
Less than a 19 minute drive away from us here at St Albans Car and Van Hire is the village of Brookmans Park. Well known for it's deep and rich growth of local history Brookmans Park is one of the most interesting places in the St Albans area.
Bricket Wood is a village in the county of Hertfordshire just 4.2 miles south of St Albans, roughly an 18 minute drive from us here at St Albans Car and Van Hire.
We're surrounded by a variety of eclectic and interesting places in St Albans. Ayot St Lawrence, the home and final resting place of George Bernard Shaw, is just one of those places. It's also the home of the 14th century pub 'The Brocket Arms' which has a local reputation for being haunted (if I was a ghost I can think of worse places to end up than in a pub!).
Here at St Albans Car and Van Hire we serve a large number of local villages, including the (rather large) and wonderful village of Radlett – which is just down the A5183 from us!

A fundraising concert is to take place in St Albans 'The Pioneer club' on Febuary the 22nd in aid of the St Albans based charity 'St Albans and Philippines group' (STAPH) who are dedicated to the Philippines relief.
Since we founded St Albans Car and Van Hire in 1975 we've seen a lot of development in the world, and it seems it's now changing faster than ever. By the end of this month Milton Keynes will be trialling Electric Buses on the Number 7 route... though we've not heard plans of St Albans doing the same for the 304 or 620 buses!
